Dr. James Wise, soon to be of Duluth, dealt with tough water conditions and merciless wind, but did well pitching buggers (11 March 2006).
Opening day 2006, that is the April 1 opener. Lots of midges early, then some baetis, then the mother load: Dark hendricksons for an hour and a half. It's always refreshing to fish to indiscriminatingly feeding fish during a hatch. It was a spectacular day that was much better spent on the water than indoors at the Great Waters Expo.

Randy Brock and I hit several Houston County streams over the course of one weekend. They were mostly in great shape and had some nice hatches, particularly Dark Hendricksons as the caddis never really materialized.
Here is the Minnesota version of the San Juan Shuffle.

Bob Collier or Austin, MN had a phenominal day using a variety of patterns and tactics. Nary an anlger was to be found, and the Light Hendricksons came off enough to keep fish interested in taking dries and emergers.
