Marabou Pheasant Tail Nymph
Tied by Robert Collier
Two of my favorite tying
materials are Marabou and Pheasant Tail. This pattern combines both and is
productive to boot
Thread: 8-0 color to match
natural.
Hook: 2x long (I used a
Tiemco 200R) size 18-14
Tail: 3-4 PT
feathers
Body: 10-12 Marabou barbs
twisted into a rope. Color to match the natural
Rib: Copper Wire
Thorax: 2-3 Pea thingy Spears
Back: 10-12 PT feathers
pulled over thorax (leave long over the eye to make legs.
Legs: PT feathers split
and pulled to the side.
You can also wrap some lead if
you want get the fly deeper. Fish as you would any nymph. I like the life
that the marabou body gives the fly plus it will trap air bubbles as well.
