Barr's Graphic Caddis

Tied by Jay Hall

Hook: TMC 2499 SPBL 14-18
Thread: UTC 70 denier Tan or Olive
Tag: Holographic Flash
Body: Tan or Olive micro tubing
Legs: Partridge
Thorax: Dun Ostrich Herl

Start by winding thread to bend.  Tie in tubing and lash it down a little around the bend.  Tie in the Flashabou.  Advance the thread back up around bend.  Wind about three turns of the flash and tie off. From that point forward build up a thread base to just short of the Eye.  You want a reverse taper that is fatter at the bend and tapers toward the eye.  Wind the tubing over the flash and thread base to just short of the eye.  Take a partridge feather and clip the tip out of it to form a V shaped feather.  Tie this in so that the tips extend just past the hook bend. Wrap this down over the front of the tubing, so that you leave about 1/8 inch at the front for a thorax.  Tie in a strand of Ostrich Herl and wind it like a hackle to form a collar.  Wet you fingers and pull the Herl back a little to make room for a small head.  Whip finish.

There are great step by step instructions with pictures for this pattern on Charlie Cravens web site  Charlie's Fly Box. http://www.charliesflyboxinc.com/flybox/details.cfm?parentID=97
